Magical Blend magazine has been a window into spiritual and creative possibilities for 25 years. Today it sells more than 120,000 copies per issue, is carried in major bookstore chains, and has subscribers in all fifty states and 33 countries. In 25 years it has published an impressive list of authors, artists, and celebrities. (To name just a few: Carlos Santana, Caroline Myss, Spike Lee, Carlos Castaneda, Jean Houston, Deepak Chopra, and Neale Donald Walsch.) But it began as the cooperative project of a small group of visionaries, spiritual pilgrims, poets, artists, and writers.
Publisher Michael Peter Langevin was there from the beginning. In fact, the first issues were put together in his apartment in San Francisco's Haight/Ashbury district. In Spiritual Business, he tells the whole outrageous tale, full of idealism, conflict, perseverance, expensive lessons, ingenuity, blind faith and sex, drugs, and rock and roll. The founding members who set out to provide an outlet for the creativity they saw all around them were kids, knowing nothing of business and little of self-discipline. For years they fought the odds, each other, and the economic system. Along the way the magazine encountered and overcame massive staff changes, debilitating illnesses, and bankruptcy. In the process, their youth became maturity, and visionaries became business professionals.
This engaging story of the birth, growth, and maturity of Magical Blend serves as a template for those with a dream. Its history demonstrates that you can fulfill your dreams and achieve your highest vision, even if you have to go into business to do it!
This is the story of how the impossible can be achieved.

Steve Bhaerman is an internationally known author, humorist, and workshop leader. For the past 18 years, he has written and performed as Swami Beyondananda, the "Cosmic Comic." Swami's comedy has been called "irreverently uplifting" and has been described both as "comedy disguised as wisdom" and "wisdom disguised as comedy."
As the Swami, Steve is the author of four books, Driving Your Own Karma, When You See a Sacred Cow, Milk It For All It's Worth, Duck Soup for the Soul, and his latest Swami for Precedent: A 7-Step Plan to Heal the Body Politic and Cure Electile Dysfunction.
Swami's nationally syndicated spoof advice column, Ask the Swami -- along with his comedy performances have found a wide and appreciative audience.
In his "past life" (before Swami), Steve started an alternative high school in Washington, D.C. and co-authored a book about his experiences, No Particular Place to Go: Making of a Free High School. A political science major, he later taught history to autoworkers at Wayne State University in Detroit as part of the Weekend College.
In 1980, Steve co-founded Pathways Magazine in Ann Arbor, Michigan, one of the first publications bringing together holistic health, personal growth, spirituality, and politics. The Swami was a regular comedy feature in Pathways, and helped launch Steve's career as the cosmic comic. Having spent his deformative years in Brooklyn, Steve earned a black belt in Borscht Belt, and has won numerous Irony-man competitions. He currently resides in Santa Rosa, California with his wife Trudy.

Clay Douglas has examined stories that the rest of the media has refused to acknowledge or examine. After surviving a near fatal accident on his motorcycle that left him unconscious for three months, the Free American ceased publishing and Clay joined the American Free Press team soon after getting out of the hospital.. Clay is now the Outreach Director for the American Free Press.
He's been the air for over 5 years and published the Free American for ten years with the most controversial subjects, the most controversial guests as the most controversial host! Mr. Douglas is a multi-talented entrepreneur, public speaker, talk show host and writer. He has also produced and hosted his own documentaries on video, including "Chemtrails, the Video" on a current, top-secret phenomena occurring in our skies on a daily basis. "The True Face of FEMA" - Features Col. John Brinkerhoff of Homeland Security and "America, Dream or Nightmare" - What America was supposed to be and what it is becoming. He is available for talk shows, assignments or interesting projects.
Clay will be speaking at Conspiracy Con 2005 on the history and progress of the New World Order. It is not just the development of the War on Terror and the War in Iraq. It goes further than the killings at Waco and Ruby Ridge. Its roots can be found in World War I and II, and in the take over and subsequent slaughter of the Russian Czar Nicholas, his family and millions of Russians. Clay will discuss the role religions have played for two thousand years as the teachings of Jesus were turned into a method of control. Learn the difference between atonement and "At One Ment."

Dick Gregory was on the frontline in the sixties during the Civil Rights Era; today he continues to be a "drum major for justice and equality." Gregory, Richard Claxton "Dick" (Born, October 12, 1932, St. Louis, Mo.), African American comedian and civil rights activist whose social satire changed the way white Americans perceived African American comedians since he first performed in public. Dick Gregory entered the national comedy scene in 1961 when Chicago's Playboy Club (as a direct request from publisher Hugh Hefner) booked him as a replacement for white comedian, "Professor" Irwin Corey.
Gregory's activism continued into the 1990s. In response to published allegations that the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) had supplied cocaine to predominantly African American areas in Los Angeles, thus spurring the crack epidemic, Gregory protested at CIA headquarters and was arrested. In 1992 he began a program called "Campaign for Human Dignity" to fight crime in St. Louis neighborhoods.
In 1973, the year he released his comedy album Caught in the Act, Gregory moved with his family to Plymouth, Massachusetts, where he developed an interest in vegetarianism and became a nutritional consultant. In 1984 he founded Health Enterprises, Inc., a company that distributed weight loss products. In 1987 Gregory introduced the Slim-Safe Bahamian Diet, a powdered diet mix, which was immensely profitable. You can read more on Dick Gregory. www.dickgregory.com

Fred Wiehe - I am a native of Cincinnati, Ohio. I graduated from Reading High School in 1973 (Reading is a small town about 18 miles northwest of Cincy). I graduated from the University of Cincinnati in 1978, with a degree in Secondary Education. In 1979, with a mere $500.00 in my pocket and one backpack stuffed with clothes, I hitch-hiked across country to California. Along the way, I made friends with the homeless (still referred to as hobos then), bikers, religious fanatics, farmers, migrant workers, truck drivers, hippies (yes, there were still hippies in '79), bus drivers, and Gypsies. I arrived in San Francisco three months later--basically broke but miraculously still alive--where I took up living quarters in the Ansonia Residence Club on Post Street, in the Tenderloin District. (The Ansonia is still there, but now it's a bed & breakfast and charges more for one night than it cost back then for a week.) The Tenderloin is known mostly for its young (and tender) prostitutes (not all girls), as well as for corner drug deals. I lived at the Ansonia for several months, sleeping to the sound of wailing sirens. But I soon moved to the quiet streets around the University of San Francisco--mostly due to sleep deprivation. The nights were quiet, but there were still plenty of drugs and prostitutes ... uh, that is students. I also lived in the Sunset District (a two-minute walk to the beach), Oakland, South San Francisco, Palo Alto, and Redwood City.
I moved to San Jose in 1985 and have been there ever since--the longest I've ever lived in one place, not counting my childhood in Reading. There, I dried out and met my wonderful wife Suzanne. We have two sons, Jesse and Ian. I now spend most of my time worrying that my sons might turn out like me. Oh yeah, I write too. I'm the author of STARKVILLE, NIGHT SONGS, THE BURNING, and STRANGE DAYS. I write novels of horror, suspense, mystery, and fantasy--all the elements of life. My fiction should be read in the dead of night. When no one is watching (don't ask why). Dare to be scared. Pick up a copy of my books today. I am a proud member of the Horror Writers Association. Also, I am proud to announce that I've been selected to be included in a biographical directory published by Marquis Who's Who, the leading biographical reference publisher of the highest achievers and contributors from across the country and around the world. I will be profiled in in the 2005 edition of Who's Who in America. Honestly, I can't figure out why they would want to include me in their prestigious publication (go figure), but I am deeply honored that they have. This new edition becomes available in October 2004. - Fred Wiehe http://www.fredwiehe.com
